What to check before choosing software
Log a found item, open your venue webpage as a guest, and submit a claim. Check that staff can verify private details before deciding who receives it.
A good fit: For teams that want a branded venue website where guests can browse published item photos and submit private claims.
Check your requirements: AI suggests possible matches; staff decide ownership. Arrange courier returns with your own courier and record tracking in vFound.
Two similar items
Log two similar black bags. Keep an identifying detail private, then check that staff can use it to tell the bags apart.
A guest with no match
Open the venue website on a phone, search by photo and submit a lost report. Check the guest journey before asking your team to change tools.
A disputed claim
Try a claim with an incorrect private detail. Review the evidence before approving a return, then follow the item through collection.

Frequently asked questions
What is lost and found software?+
Lost and found software records the items a venue finds, helps owners find and claim them, and records how each one was returned, donated or disposed of. vFound adds a photo website for guests, AI that writes listings and checks claims, and a full custody record.
How much does vFound Lost & Found cost?+
US$75/month per venue, billed yearly at US$900, after a 14-day free trial that requires a valid card; cancel before day 14 to avoid the yearly charge. Items, team members and storage are unlimited, and vFound AI is included within a fair-use allowance.
Does the AI decide who gets an item back?+
No. vFound AI compares a claim with your private record and flags anything that does not add up, but a person on your team decides every return. It never identifies people from images.
Can guests use it in their own language?+
Yes. Guest pages, claim pages and guest emails work in English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Arabic, and vFound AI translates guest messages for your team.
Do guests need an account?+
No. Guests browse your website in a browser and get a private link by email for their claim, its messages and its pickup. A venue can also choose to keep its found items private, so guests only report what they lost and the team replies by email.
Is vFound lost property management software?+
Yes. Lost property is the name the UK, Ireland and Australia use for lost and found, and vFound Lost & Found does that job: it logs each found item from a photo, lists it on your venue’s own website, takes private claims and records every return, donation or disposal. You can pay in pounds sterling, euros or Australian dollars as well as US dollars.
Is there a lost and found app for hotels and venues?+
vFound needs no app. Your team, from housekeeping to the front desk, uses it in the browser on any phone or computer and can add it to a phone’s home screen to open like an app. Guests search and claim on your venue’s own lost and found page, with nothing to download and no account.
Can we ship an item back to its owner?+
Yes. Once your team accepts a claim, the guest adds a delivery address on their private claim page. You send the item with your own courier and agree any cost with the guest, because vFound takes no payments from guests. When you mark it shipped with Canada Post, UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL or Purolator and the tracking number, the guest is emailed a link to track it.
Is there a data processing agreement for GDPR?+
Yes. The vFound Data Processing Agreement covers the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, is part of our Terms and applies from the moment you use vFound, and a countersigned copy is available by email. It lists every sub-processor and the security measures we keep, and owners and managers can export, correct and delete a guest’s claim details themselves.
Can guests receive updates when there is no match?+
Venues can enable automated no-match updates. Watching-ended emails are on unless the venue turns them off, only for reports whose watching period ends strictly after the current successful release activation. Guests can switch these emails off from their private report. That page also offers a downloadable report receipt; it does not prove ownership.
